RWC Recounts

On Friday 30th October Hillpark School had a Black Out day to show our support for the RWC and the All Blacks.

The RWC was in England at Twickenham stadium.
The All Blacks got 34 and the Wallabies got only 17.. It was awesome because Barrett scored an awesome try in the last few minutes. Carter was named man of the match. Smith was yellow carded.

In conclusion I think the ABs are the BEST team ever!

At Hillpark school on Friday 30th October we had a Black Out day to support the All Blacks in the world cup final.

The All Blacks met the Wallabies at Twickenham stadium in England. Dan Carter played awesomely and was named man of the match. Ben Smith got yellow carded and had to spend some time off the field. Beauden Barrett made a marvelous run down the field and scored a try in the final few minutes. After the game a little boy ran on the field and was tackled by a security guard. Sony Bill Williams gave the little boy his winning medal.

Anyway the All Blacks won 34-17 and played epicly. Sonny Bill Williams got a second medal.

On Friday 30th October, it was Black Out day at Hillpark school and we wore black clothes because we were ready to support the All Blacks in the RWC on Sunday.

Yesterday the All Blacks met the Wallabies at Twickenham stadium. During the game, Dam Carter played really well and he was named player of the match. Ben Smith got yellow carded so he had to sit out for a while. While he sat out the Wallabies started to get closer and closer to winning the RWC. Beauden Barrett got an amazing runand scpored a try in the final few minutes. The All Blacks played an epic game and won the final 34-17. The All Blacks got presented with medals but something strange happened. Sonny Bill gave his medal away to a boy who ran on the field and got tackled by a security guard.

I was very sad when Sonny Bill gave away his medal but it was very nice of him.

In conclusion, I think the All Blacks did very well and did more than their best in the final.

Mia W

The ABs have won the RWC. I think in 2019 they will win again. The ABs have won 3x.
In conclusion I think the ABs are cool!

Last Friday we all got dressed up in black for the All Blacks because we wanted them to win in the final, we hoped they would, and they did 34-17. How great is that! Sonny Bill gave his medal to a boy who got tackled by a security guard because he ran onto the field. This was a dangerous thing because he could have gotten hurt. He shouldn't have been on the field as its a rule you don't go on the field.

On Sunday I got up to watch the rugby world cup. The All Blacks against the Wallabies in England at Twickenham stadium. Dan Carter was man of the match because he did some awesome kicks. In the last 5 minutes Beauden Barrett gat an awesome try. The All Blacks had a pretty good game against the Wallabies winning 34-17. It was a great game!

At the end of the game Sonny Bill saw a boy tackled by a security guard and Sonny Bill took him back to his parents and gave his medal to the boy. Wasn't he kind?
Sonny Bill was given another medal.

In conclusion, I thought the game was epic. I felt really happy that they won. My Dad was jumping up and down when their were tries, especially when Beauden Barrett scored his and when Dan Carter kicked goals.

It was an amazing, magnificent game and great they didn't lose against their foes.

Room 22s prediction:
We think its going to be a tight and brutal game which will be all about the defence. In R22 we are predicting the ABs will win (of course!) by 5-8 points!

I think the All Blacks will win the rugby world cup as they're the best team. Milner Skudder is my favorite as he's good at running and stepping.
Asher

Sonny Bill Williams is my favourite and best player. On Sunday the All Blacks will win as they're the best team ever. I'm not quite sure what the score will be though.
Caylah

I really want to be like Dan Carter as he's a really great player. He kicks really really well and on Sunday the All Blacks will win by 16 points.
Milan

All Blacks will win the cup on Sunday. I think the score will be 20-17 so it will be a close game.
Richie McCaw is my favourite as I think he's a really good player.
Aria

Richie McCaw is the best because he's the captain of the All Blacks and he plays really good rugby. The All Blacks are the best team ever but I think the Aussies will win.

RWC Kick Off

In room 22 Ms Penman drew out of the hat 'Ireland' so this is the team we are supporting for the RWC.

We still say "Go the All Blacks" though!!

Today at Hillpark children in every class have come to school in the colours of the country their class will be supporting for the RWC..

As part of our learning today we have found out a little about Ireland.
  • Irish, or Irish Gaelic is the country's first official language, the second official language is English and  is more commonly spoken.
  • There are over 4.75 million people living in Ireland, that's more than we have living in NZ.
  • The Irish capital is Dublin.
  • Saint Patrick's Day is Irelands official national holiday. The 17th of March holiday is celebrated in Ireland and in many other countries around the world.
  • The world famous Guinness beer is from Ireland.
  • Gaelic football and hurling are traditional sports of Ireland and remain the most popular sports in the country.
  • Shamrock (type of clover) is the national symbol of Ireland and along with the harp it is a registered trademark of the country.

A Spectacular Night

Last night room 22 along with room 16 joined forces to dance the Charleston as part of our schools production of
'Music Through the Ages'
We looked fantastic and danced so well.

We were first on so we had a long time to wait before it was time for the finale.  We occupied ourselves well with games before we watched a movie.

Room 22's Assembly

Here are some of our photos from the school assembly led by our class this week.

God of Nations

The poem we recited...

At the Zoo

by A.  A. Milne

There are lions and roaring tigers,
and enormous camels and things,

There are biffalo-buffalo-bisons,
and a great big bear with wings.
There's a sort of a tiny potamus,
and a tiny nosserus too -
But we gave buns to the elephant
when we went down to the Zoo!

There are badgers and bidgers and bodgers,
and a Super-in-tendent's House,
There are masses of goats, and a Polar,
and different kinds of mouse,
And I think there's a sort of a something
which is called a wallaboo -
But we gave buns to the elephant
when we went down to the Zoo!

If you try to talk to the bison,
he never quite understands;
You can't shake hands with a mingo -
he doesn't like shaking hands.
And lions and roaring tigers
hate saying, "How do you do?" -
But we gave buns to the elephant
when we went down to the Zoo!

Our Trip to the Auckland Zoo

On Wednesday September 2nd all of Kereru team went to the Auckland Zoo.
After many days of lots of rain we were really fortunate to have a beautiful day.

The buses arrived at the zoo at about 10am. Half of us went off to the Education rooms to learn about animals and conflicts and pests and pals while the rest of us had a look around at all the animals. We then swapped over before sitting down for some yummy lunch.

After lunch we continued our exploration around the zoo before the buses picked us up again at 2pm.
